A thermal blanket is a compact and practical aid that should be included in every first aid kit. It is also ideal for taking along on hikes. Folded into a small package, the blanket fits into a jacket pocket, yet when unfolded, it is large enough to cover a person’s body from head to toe.
The thermal blanket is used to protect an injured person from rain, hypothermia and overheating. To protect against cold, place the blanket around the person with the silver side facing the body. To protect against overheating, loosely wrap the blanket around the person with the gold side facing the body. If there are any wounds, leave them uncovered and visible.
